  • skiing/snowboarding - Wolf Creek...known for the most snow in Colorado!
  • hiking - San Juan National Forest and Weminuche Wilderness...hundreds of miles of some of Colorado's best trails to mountains, streams, lakes & waterfalls, there are hiking guides for you to borrow in the home's small library. 
  • walking - take a stroll through the neighborhood, downtown, or along the San Juan River.  In winter, many of these same walks would be great for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing
  • kayaking - the San Juan River flows right through town
  • canoeing - Lake Forest, just across the street, and several others
  • hot air balloon rides -can be seen over our lake some mornings, perhaps you'll want to take your own ride
  • mountain bike riding - many  trails to enjoy nearby
  • rock climbing - along the Piedra River
  • hotsprings - the natural kind...along several hiking trails
  • fishing - our neighborhood lake, Lake Forest, is stocked full; local lakes and streams have award-winning trout, bass & perch
  • wildlife viewing - in the mountains, or even from the back deck
  • golfing - at Pagosa Lakes, 36 holes 
  • Native American ruins - including nearby Chimney Rock as well as Mesa Verde

Indoor Activities

  • hotsprings - the developed kind, relaxing and luxurious, technically open-air
  • spas - massages, facials, and other soothing treats
  • movie theatre - downtown
  • art galleries - displaying photography as well as southwestern, contemporary, and other forms of art
  • museums - historical museum and Fred Harmon museum
  • shopping - including gifts, antiques, clothes, jewelry, furniture, and even a great candy store!

If you'd rather stay "home," you might prepare a delicious meal in our spacious, well-appointed kitchen , enjoy a book or game of chess near  the woodburning stove, take in the sunset from the swing on the back deck, or watch & listen to the hummingbirds, meadowlarks, & many other feathered friends from any window in the house.
